Starting fresh and clean

Welcome to the revised, retooled, and repolished Mr. Wright — now with more professionalism! This blog will serve as the companion to my photography site mattwrightphotography.com. It'll be your one-stop shop for updates on what I'm doing with both my photos and my writing, but since those updates are usually spaced out, I'm going to make a concerted effort to make this an actual daily photoblog. With something like 3,500 pictures on Flickr now, pulling one from the archives when there's nothing fresh shouldn't be a problem. Example: the above photo was the first one I ever uploaded to Flickr, in September 2004. Been quite a few changes in my life thanks, in part, to that little site.

As always, you can also see more of my work on Austinist, if you live in Austin or just really like keeping tabs on the city for some reason.

One thing I'll note here is that I plan to make improvements to my photography site. It'll be a while before I implement them, simply because I'm sick of writing HTML, but consider this a checklist for the future:

1. Individual pages for each photo in the galleries.

2. Captions and credits for every photo.

3. A section devoted to recent and ongoing projects, e.g., the wedding I shot last weekend.

4. Links to all the online versions of my publications, when available.

5. RSS-based doo-hickie that links to "Latest Blog Entry" on main page.

6. Links to all my photographer friends and the great work they do.

7. More formal writing portfolio.

8. PRINT SALE.
